Cheat

Learn how to play the drinking card game, Cheat, with our easy to follow instructions and video!

Requirements

– One standard deck of 52 cards (more than one deck may be needed when playing with many people)

– Plenty of beverage

– Four or more players

Object of the game

The object of the game is to be the first player to lose all their cards.

Play

Deal all the cards out. The person to the left of the dealer goes first. This player must put down one or more Aces. But, the player who puts the card(s) face down in the centre of the table must then state what they just played. (for instance “One Ace!”). The next player must play a card (or cards) either one below, one above or equal to the previous card (or cards), for instance if the card played before the player was an ace, they can either play a king, an ace or a two, this continues around.

If a player does not have one of the required card values that they must play, they still have to play a card (or more than one). The gist is to play it and announce it as a card that can be played, so that the other players trust you. If any player distrusts you, they shout “Cheat!” and the player then checks what that player played.

If the accusing player is right, the cheating player must pick up all the cards and drink.

If the accusing player is wrong, he/she must pick up all the cards and drink!

Some additional rules: Pretty much all forms of cheating are permitted. Hiding cards, creeping in more cards than you announce, etc. But, all of these violations are punishable, if you are caught, and of course you must pick up all the cards.

Play continues around the circle up until a player runs out of cards. All other players must chug the remainder of their beverage.
